Amaryllis Garden, Single Potted Dutch Bulb
Enjoy the coldest months of winter with a magnificent Jumbo Dutch Amaryllis bulb, growing in a keepsake pot of your choosing. Your Amaryllis “Garden” will come fully planted—you choose your bulb and vase below—and we’ll decorate with seasonal moss and winter trimmings! A perfect, thoughtful gift—self-gifting included!
Of all the world’s Amaryllis, Dutch Jumbo bulbs are the grandest, most coveted and long-lasting, often flowering for months. We are thrilled to offer you potted bulbs in sizes 36/38+ circumference (less than 2% of all the Amaryllis bulbs sold in the world are this large!) as well as smaller hard-to-find specialty varieties like Exotic Star.
Few winter flowers elicit the joy and wonder of Amaryllis. They give so much beauty and ask for very little in return, which makes them wonderful house guests and treasured holiday gifts. These tropic flowers bloom as house plants throughout the winter months and set up 3-4 spectacular flowers on each their long green stems. As each flower finishes its majestic bloom, new flowers eagerly wait to take its place, extending the magnificent show for months. And when your Amaryllis comes to the end of its seasonal blossoming, it can be kept inside as a house plant or planted outside (once the final frost has come and gone) as a beautiful foliage plant until the fall.
PLEASE NOTE THIS ITEM IS FOR PICK-UP AND SELECT DELIVERY ONLY. Pick up available at Six Dutchess Farm, Cold Spring Farmers Market and Beacon Farmers Market. We do not ship live flowers. WE DO ship dormant bulbs and you can order them here.
ALSO NOTE: Upon pick-up, you bulb may just be starting the growing process or it may be close to flowering. Either way, expect your Amaryllis to provide up to 6 weeks of blooms, if not more.
All of our Amaryllis gardens are made to order, based on your selections.

Why We Love Amaryllis
Aside from their striking beauty, Amaryllis are low maintenance, easy to grow, and require only a modest watering when dry (usually once a week); they love a warm winter home; they don’t need re-potting or fertilizer, and, best of all, you can keep the bulbs for decades, bringing them back inside as a house plant each winter.
How to Keep Your Amaryllis Happy
Do NOT put them outside if you live in a climate with winter frost. Amaryllis like temperatures in the 70s, which is perfect for most homes in wintertime. They are tender tropicals and must never encounter freezing temperatures. Just as these grand bulbs require warmth to flower, they also like to keep their soil moist, but not wet. When in doubt, place your finger an inch down into the soil. If it feels dry, water the soil, around the bulb, just until wet.
How to Pot your Amaryllis Bulbs
if you are purchasing a dormant bulb, you’ll have the pleasure of potting it! Pick a pot that is snug for the bulb, no more than one inch of space from the bulb to the edge of your pot. If planting a duo or trio of bulbs together, you can plant them snug, with about an inch of space in between your bulbs. Place them in loose, well draining potting soil and leave one-half to one-third of the bulb’s top exposed. Water soil thoroughly, until it drains from the bottom of the pot, and do not water again until you see a green stem emerging from your bulb OR if you find the soil dry to the touch. Once your Amaryllis has woken and you see a stem emerging, follow a regular watering routine, weekly, or, as needed.
How to Choose the Perfect Variety
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of varieties of Amaryllis, with bulbs imported from Holland, South American and South African. These include double flowering, single flowering, striated, trumpet, spider and many more. Like all flowers, some will resonate with you more than others. Pick those that speak to you and capture your eye. You’ll be spending a lot of time together!
